User guide · Chapter 6
Editing a rental
Native Rent User Guide 1.2 (2026-10-23). Supersedes the published guide.
Use the quick action Edit / Cancel Rental (Edit_Cancel_Rental) on a rental. It runs NR_Edit_Rental_Transaction (v17 live).
This is the Transaction Edit path: you can edit key dates and details on rentals in supported stages. When dates change, the flow recalculates fees and updates related lines so staff avoid manual workarounds for real-world rental adjustments. Source: decision-log.md; customer release email 1.89.
What you can edit
- Reserved or Confirmed: all edit types.
- Checked Out: end date only.
- Other statuses: Edit Not Allowed.
Changing dates
- Adjust Rental Dates shows the current dates. Cancel leaves without saving.
- The date check runs when you click Next.
- Rentable and add-on lines that are not Completed or Cancelled are repriced. Lines keep their status.
- Fees keep their amounts. One Tax line, named like Tax (11%), replaces the old one.
- An end-date-only edit keeps each line's original start.
- Alternate rates use the rate's own type for quantity (see chapter 4).
