Sole Rate Auto-Select and Edit Fee Recalc
Released 2026-10-26.
Native Rent version 1.98.
What Changed
Sole Rate When Only One Alternate Exists
When the preferred rate type for the stay length is missing, the flows check how many active alternate rates exist.
- Exactly one alternate: Multi, Edit, and NR_Multi now use that rate. Staff are not asked to pick from Choose a Rate.
- More than one alternate: the Choose screens still open (with those rows).
- No alternates: Multi, Edit, and NR_Multi go to Rate Not Available: never open Choose with zero rows. Multi and NR_Multi now match Edit.
The same rule applies to add-on rates. Exactly one active add-on alternate skips Choose an Add-On Rate. More than one still opens it. With none, Multi, Edit, and NR_Multi go to Add-On Rate Not Available.
Preferred-rate hit paths are unchanged.
Preferred-Type Choose: No False “No Daily”
When the preferred Get misses but active rates of that preferred type still appear in the alternate list, Choose no longer shows a false “No Daily” (or other preferred-type) message.
- The flows tally preferred-type rows inside the alternate collection.
- Exactly one preferred-type alternate: that rate is auto-selected (even when other rate types are also listed).
- Two or more preferred-type alternates: Choose opens with Pick Among copy (preferred type is named; staff pick).
- No preferred-type rows among alternates: Choose opens with No Preferred copy and the other active rate types in the table. Multi / NR_Multi: “No {preferred type} rate is set up…”. Edit: “No {preferred type} rate was found for this rentable/add-on…”.
Same pattern on add-on Choose screens. Edit heading is Choose a Rate / Choose an Add-On Rate; Edit help “Select a different rate…” shows only under No Preferred; Multi add-on copy names the add-on.
Customer Type matching is not in packaging. Subscriber orgs that filter preferred Get by customer type stay org-owned.
Edit: Adjust Fees When End Date Changes
On Edit, if the rental end date changes, a new Adjust Fees screen asks whether to recalculate fees for the new dates.
- Default is Yes: recalculate for the new dates.
- No: keep existing fee amounts keeps the current fee amounts.
- Fees always show after that step. Elective fees already on the rental stay preselected.
- Help on the fee summary: preselected elective fees match fees already on this rental; if recalculate was chosen, amounts use the updated rental days.
Fee Quantity Follows Selected Rate Type
On Multi and Edit, fee quantity for Admin Charge / Service-style lines now follows the selected rate type (Hourly / Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Yearly → day count). It no longer defaults through the pro-rate-days path when the rate type is set.
On Edit, replacement-line and preferred add-on quantity also follow the selected / preferred add-on rate type (day count for Daily), not bare pro-rate days.
Who It Affects
Staff who book or edit rentals when a Rentable (or add-on) has only one active rate of a non-preferred type, staff who hit a truly missing rate (now see Rate Not Available instead of an empty Choose table), staff who would have seen a false “No Daily” when Daily rows were still listed, and staff who change the end date on Edit and need fee amounts to match the new dates.
