Setup and settings
Native Rent User Guide 1.2 (2026-10-23). Supersedes the published guide.
Native Rent Settings (NativeRentSettings__c)
A hierarchy custom setting. Set it in Setup > Custom Settings.
| Field | Default | What it does now |
|---|---|---|
Use Date and Time (Use_Date_Time__c) | Off | Switches flows from dates only to date and time. |
Extra Time Hours Per Unit (Extra_Time_Hours_Per_Unit__c) | Blank = 24 | Hours in one day for day counts. |
Checkout Email Template API Name (Checkout_Email_Template__c) | Blank | Stores an email template API name (DeveloperName), not an ID. The live checkout does not send email yet (see chapter 16). |
Bill Full Calendar Months as 1 (Calendar_Month_Billing__c) | Off | Nothing reads it yet. |
| Grace Hours, Prorate Extra Time | 1, Off | Live. Used by check-in (CheckIn_Flow v31, Apex CheckInAction / RentalTimeRule) and the rental day count below. Blank Grace Hours means 1. |
Date-only vs date-and-time mode
- Off (date only): screens ask for dates. Times use the user's local day. A date-only return ends at 11:59:59 PM local on the return day, so a same-day return is never late.
- On (date and time): screens ask for date and time and show local time.
- Each flow has a text input
UseDateTime(trueorfalse). It overrides the setting. Blank uses the setting. - Planner pages cannot pass
UseDateTime. They always use the setting.
Rental day count
Whole days (one day = Extra Time Hours Per Unit hours; blank = 24), plus the leftover. Minimum 1 day.
- Grace Hours: a leftover at or under Grace Hours (blank = 1) is free.
- Prorate Extra Time off: a leftover past the grace counts as one full day.
- Prorate Extra Time on: a leftover past the grace counts as leftover hours / hours per day, rounded to 2 decimals.
Example, at the defaults only (Grace Hours 1, prorate off, 24 hours per day): 1 day and 1 hour = 1 day. 1 day, 1 hour and 1 minute = 2 days. With prorate on, 1 day and 6 hours = 1.25 days.
Permission set
Native Rent uses one permission set, labeled Native Rent (API name Check_In). Assign it to every Native Rent user. It grants check-in, damage records (Rental_Damage__c), the classes the flows call (CheckInAction, RecalculateLineFormulas, RentalDayCount), the CheckIn_Flow and Damage_Repair flows, Edit on the Rentable's Quantity, and Read on every field the packaged reports use, including Booked Days, Payment Balance and Is Overdue. It ships to subscriber orgs in the next package version.
Dashboards after install
Dashboards ship with no running user. A subscriber admin must open each dashboard, click Edit, open the gear (Properties), set View Dashboard As to Me or a user who can see all Native Rent records, then Save and Refresh.
Customizing
Adding custom fields, editing Lightning pages and data migration follow the published guide. See chapter 15.
