Release notes
Mobile Scan Rentable Router and Contact Search
Released 2026-10-27.
Native Rent version 1.98.
What Changed
Rentable Action After a Rentable Id Scan
When Mobile Scan reads a Rentable Id, staff choose a Rentable action:
- Check Out: opens Select Rental Transaction For Rentable (unfiltered open rentals), then the packaged Checkout flow.
- Check In: opens Select Rental Transaction For Rentable filtered to rentals that have at least one detail line with Status = Checked Out. Radio options still show Customer · Transaction Name · Status using the rental header Status (so a Confirmed or Reserved header can appear when a line is Checked Out). Then the packaged Check In flow opens.
- Cleaning / Maintenance: finds open work of that type for the Rentable, or creates it; staff add Notes and Save to mark that work Completed. Confirm screens still create a Rentable location when that path runs.
Cleaning and Maintenance Work Dates and Open Work Labels
On Create Cleaning / Maintenance Work Detail:
- Cleaning: Start = Now; End = end of today.
- Maintenance: Start = Now; staff pick End Date on a required screen; Next continues.
- Complete (notes Save path): End = Now on the detail (detail-only; no header Start/End write).
When staff Select Open Work, radio options show Transaction Name · Status (stamped in memory). Choosing an option loads the real note for Work Notes.
Taxability and Is Service on Create Work Detail
Is Taxable on Transaction Detail is a formula that copies taxability from the related Rental Rate: Create Work Detail does not write that field. Taxability still comes from the Rate automatically.
On Create Cleaning / Maintenance Work Detail, the flow sets Is Service Transaction to true on the new detail. Check In permission set includes field access so the create path can write it.
Check In Screen on Phone
Check In uses a radio (“Rentable to check in”) when Check in all rentables is off, so the footer / Next stays reachable on phone instead of a tall datatable.
Desktop Scan Harden
Opening the Mobile Scan tab on desktop is fine. When the device has no scanner, the Scan control is hidden and a short notice tells staff to use the Salesforce mobile app. A click path that still hits Scan shows a dismissible info toast: not a sticky hard error.
Contact Search from a Driver-License Shaped Scan
When the barcode looks like a driver-license scan, the flow parses the name and searches Contacts. Staff can select a matching Contact. This update does not write driver-license detail fields onto Contact and does not create or update Contact from the license.
Select Rental Uses a Radio List
On Select Rental Transaction For Rentable and For Contact, staff pick one rental from a radio list (not a datatable). Each option shows Customer · Transaction Name · Status (middle dots), stamped in memory. Start, End, and Total stay on the Review screen after pick. Opportunity Name is not shown. Review Lines and Next / Check Out sit above the list so the footer stays reachable on phone.
Rentable Id Length
Native Scan match uses a 15-character Rentable Id. A 15-character Id finds the record; a 16-character Id returns No match.
Who It Affects
Staff using packaged Mobile Scan (Native Barcode Scanner Template), Select Rental For Rentable, Check In, and Select Contact. Subscriber shells (for example a Mobile Scan tab) stay org-owned until wired in that org.
Not Changed
- Driver-license field writes on Contact; Opportunity Contact Role
- No new Apex
- Mobile Scan search-by-name under the scan button (not included)
- Packaged Desktop vs Mobile nav sets (subscriber)
- Radio stamp still shows header Status, not line Status
