Chapter 6: Agile Management with Kanban
Kanban is a widely used Agile project management methodology that helps you visualize the workflows. The Native Project implements the Kanban boards to manifest your project tasks. With the Kanban board, you can view and manage the team members working on each task, its stages, and deadlines.
Setting Up Your Kanban Board:
To start with Kanban, you must first create a project. Initially, the Kanban board looks as follows:
Now, add project phases and tasks. The Kanban board will start building automatically.
Managing Workflows With Kanban:
Managing workflows with Kanban is super simple. You can easily change the task status by dragging it from one column to another. You can also make changes to a task by single-clicking on it.
The popup that appears upon clicking contains the following options:
- Edit Task: The Pencil icon shows the quick edit options. Changing the status will replace the task in the Kanban upon saving.
- Link: Opens the task in a new tab.
Customizing Kanban Columns:
The Kanban columns are fully customizable from the admin controls. Click on the Gear icon at the top and select Edit Page.
Choose Kanban from the interface and modify columns from the right panel.
For more information, please refer to the Native Planner Guide.
Chapter 7: Advanced Scheduling With Scheduler
The Scheduler is integrated in the Native Planner to help you schedule projects, tasks, and phases more efficiently. It allows you to link different tasks, change timelines, and manage dependencies all in one place. If time sync is enabled for phases and tasks, the scheduler automatically updates all the timelines according to the changes.
Creating and Managing Schedules:
To create a Project Schedule, create a new project. Now, go to the Schedule tab under Project. You will see a blank table.
Now, add the phases and tasks in the project. The scheduler will show them in the corresponding date columns:
To change the schedules using Project Scheduler, click on the task/phase and drag it to the new dates. You can add dependencies between phases and tasks by double-clicking the predecessor or successors and choosing the fork icon.
Schedule Projects with Tasks and Phases:
The Projects Scheduler at the navbar is a system-wide scheduler that schedules all the projects according to phases and tasks within them. The projects are listed in the leftmost column, and the phases and tasks are listed under the corresponding dates columns.
You can drag and drop the tasks and phases to reschedule the projects.
Chapter 8: Resource Management
Resources in Native Project refers to the Human Resources. The planner helps you allocate tasks and projects to different resources and manage them.
Adding And Managing The Resources:
To add team members or users, follow the steps demonstrated here.
Resource Allocation And Planning:
You can allocate the resources while creating projects, tasks, and phases. To view the allocated resources, expand a project and go to the Assignments tab.
You can drag and drop the tasks and phases from one resource to another to change the allocations. It also offers quick edit options upon clicking on a task or phase.
Viewing Resource Availability:
To view what resources are allocated and free, go to the Assignment Board.
Again, to allocate or reallocate the resources, drag the phases and tasks from one resource to another. You can also make quick edits or open the selected item in a new tab with the popup that appears when you click it.
